Yelarbon State School is committed to ensuring that every day, in every classroom, every child is learning and achieving within a safe, supportive and disciplined learning environment. Behaviour Management is a strong component of our school's Pedagogical Framework, as we believe that a safe, supportive and disciplined learning environment lays the foundation for successful teaching and learning.
Yelarbon State School's school wide expectations are -
- We are safe
- We are respectful
- We are learners
- We are a team!
- WE CAN DO IT!
Each year these expectations and appropriate behaviours are explicitly taught to all students and regularly revised throughout the year. These lessons affirm:
- What we expect = What we get.
The 'You Can Do It!' social-emotional program is also used to provide explicit teaching lessons around GETTING ALONG, CONFIDENCE, PERSISTENCE, ORGANISATION and RESILIENCE, habits that clearly support our expectations.
Yelarbon State School's 'Shoot for the Moon' Positive Behaviour System (PDF, 462KB) is used throughout the school and students are rewarded for positive behaviour. This system, along with our Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students (PDF, 515KB) also articulates consequences for unacceptable behaviour.
